Aintree Grand National Festival Previews
Yesterday’s roundup.
3 horses first past the post on the first day at Aintree wasn’t a bad start even though it resulted in just 2 winners when the stewards demoted Pied Piper to second. It was a good day for One Stop Ratings too.
Friday 8th April
| Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
| 1.45 | XXXXXXXX 16/1 | Ran well for ...... Will be better on this ...... Likes to be ............... | |
| 2.20 | XXXXXXX | No chance in the ............................. County hurdle ....................... may find this step up in class too much but has place claims as does ........... who is progressive over hurdles. Top Novices’ Hurdle 2022 | |
| 2.55 | XXXXXXXX | A small but select field line up in this ................... is respected but my vote goes to ...................... who travels strongly and is a sound jumper. Mildmay Novices’ Chase 2022 | |
| 3.30 | FUNAMBULE SIVOLA 9/1 | FAKIR DOUDAIRIES won this last year and showed a similar level of form when winning the Ascot Chase in February, he is sure to be thereabouts. My preference however is Queen Mother second FUNAMBULE SIVOLA who is cracking each way value and has placed form on this sort of going at this longer trip. Marsh Chase (Melling Chase) | |
| 4.05 | XXXXXXX 20/1 | Won a ............ last year then lost his way a bit. Showed signs of returning to form ................. unsuitably soft going in the .............................. Can run a big race off this low weight, tucked in behind the leaders. | |
| 4.40 | XXXXXXX 16/1 | A wide open renewal of the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle .......................... He is certain to be suited by this longer trip and should run into a place at least. ..................... who is likely to make the running may prove difficult to catch and could well hang on and claim a place too. | |
| 5.15 | XXXXXXXX 12/1 | Third ................., both of his wins .......................... Should get the strong pace he craves but if it doesn’t materialise he can also make his own running. |
